An interest in crossing boundaries between the performing and visual arts is a key foundation for ST. Over the last 14 years the company has conducted ongoing research projects with dancers, musicians, sculptors, lighting, visual and sensory experts, creating numerous new dance / sculpture / music / tactile art works for Salamanda Tandem. Recent awards for artistic research are: Arts Council Great Britain for Butoh dance; Arts Council East Midlands for Triptych, Opera North for work with singers; Bonington Gallery Trent University for work with visual artists; Sheffield Hallam University for work with people with autism; National Teaching Fellowship Scheme for the Arts Work With People Project.
